Spanish Programs for Foreigners

Spanish for Business

The increase of international operations with Spanish-speaking countries is challenging business executives to consider proficiency in Spanish as part of their professional qualifications. Capable of meeting these requirements, ESAN University, which has one of the leading Latin American business schools with a well-established international reputation, offers an Immersion Program in Spanish for Business customized to the needs of professionals.  The program combines language, culture, history, and business studies.

Spanish for Latin American Studies

The process of globalization is generating a growing demand for learning the Spanish language and about Latin America.  This is so for students of various disciplines that focus on the international context, such as the fields of International Studies, Intercultural Studies, Hispanic studies, Spanish Teaching, Latin American Studies, Global Studies, Spanish majors or other fields related to the social sciences that require an international exposure and an understanding of the region, including cultural, social, political and economic aspects.

During its 12-year history, the Language Program from Universidad ESAN has gained the right experience to develop a Spanish program that will suit the needs and interests of undergraduate students searching for an enrichment program combining language learning and knowledge of Latin American issues.

Spanish Program for Faculty

In addition, we offer a program for Faculty members. This is a customized 2-week immersion program, which can be extended to 3 or 4 weeks. The program has successfully been run for directors and lecturers from Florida International University for 7 years. Contents are negotiable with institutions and participants, and the program develops the skills needed for using Spanish in an academic and professional context.

Objectives

  • Building a vocabulary base related to the different areas of specialization of the students.  Topics are determined at the beginning of the program according to participants´ interest.
  • Acquiring knowledge of grammar with a major focus on communication within cultural and professional contexts.
  • Developing language proficiency necessary for interacting in professional and business situations.

Accommodations

Accommodations are available in fully-equipped suites centrally located at a 15-minute ride far from the school. Alternatively, there are a few places with local families at walking distance, which consist of a bedroom with a private bathroom. Students may choose their own accommodations.  Lunch is provided at the school premises from Monday to Friday, as well as transport from/to hotel and airport.

Structure

The Spanish Programs are intensive 4-week immersion courses, consisting in 100 hours of tuition and activities. The program comprises language development courses, business, cultural and history seminars, as well as cultural and company visits, tutorials and guided supplementary program.

Proficiency Level

The entrance Spanish proficiency level will be evaluated through an examination prior to the start of the program. The program is customized to the proficiency level of homogenous groups of students in terms of oral skills and grammar knowledge, so the diagnostic exam seeks to determine this group.

We regularly aim our courses at the intermediate proficiency level but we are prepared to offer courses at elementary and advanced levels, depending on the total number of students registered in the program.
