About this course:
Cities today are working hard to be considered smart and sustainable. Even though those concepts are widely accepted in both research and policy practices, there are many misunderstandings and a strong focus on the use of information technology itself.
This course aims at providing practitioners and researchers the tools they need to create the cities of the future. In this course, smart and sustainable cities are being studied through three themes. First, we focus on the main dimensions and elements in a smart and sustainable city. Second, we analyze successful smart and sustainable cities strategies. Third, we use the design thinking approach to design social Innovation projects in the context pf smart and sustainable cities.
